Why not take your dog on your Northumbrian Holiday

Taking your dog on holiday may seem a strange idea to some families, but to others this is a very common way to spend your time off. There are plenty of dog and pet friendly cottages and accommodation around the country and this is especially true for Northumberland. Why go to the expense of housing your dog in kennels when you can bring the dog with you to your Northumberland Accommodation. Not only are you saving money but you are also saving your dog from the stress of the kennels, which no dog enjoys. It also means you can enjoy your holiday with ‘man’s best friend’ in tow.

Northumberland is an ideal place for taking your dog as there is so many walks in the region. With 1030kmof national park to explore there is more than enough space to let your pooch have a good run and get to know the Northumbrian countryside. And on hot days you can take advantage of Northumbria’s spectacular coastline and take your dog for a walk along the beach, where it can swim in the sea to cool off. Druridge Bay Country Park is perhaps the best example of how great Northumbria is for dog walking as it was a 2008 winner of the national top dog walks competition. It even features a play area for dogs!

Northumberland Holidays are not complete without a visit to one (or more!) local hostelries. You will find that most publicans will welcome you and your dog onto the premises and many will have water bowls so your dog can enjoy a drink too. The Jolly Fisherman Inn, Cranster is just one fine example of such an establishment. With wonderful views over the harbour you and your dog can expect a warm welcome, great food and fine local ales. Your canine companion may even be luck enough to find a doggy treat on offer from the owner, and can even make friends with the resident Labrador.
